VAMP2 Antibodies
VAMP2 is a presynaptic SNARE protein essential for synaptic vesicle fusion and neurotransmitter release. CSF VAMP2 levels reflect (pre)synaptic degeneration and are altered across the Alzheimer’s disease continuum, showing correlations with core AD biomarkers and cognitive impairment, thereby supporting its interpretation as a marker of presynaptic/synaptic degeneration1,2. VAMP2 may also interact with α‑synuclein biology and synaptic vulnerability. Plasma VAMP2 findings are emerging, with some recent studies suggesting moderate correlations with other synaptic markers and synaptic-density PET or cognition in older adults, suggesting blood VAMP2 may carry a central synaptic signal, but results remain mixed3.
The ADx413 and ADx414 monoclonal antibodies targeting VAMP2 can support the development of immunoassays able to quantify this synaptic protein in different biofluids.
